Temple Square is still top tourist draw in Utah

It looks like Temple Square is still the top tourist driver for Utah -- and it's not just Mormons coming here. People are genuinely curious about Mormonism.

That doesn't surprise me as much as this very candid comment about Temple Square from Deseret News, the church friendly newspaper owned by a corporation of the Church.

Like visitors to St. Peter's Square in Rome, people touring Temple Square should expect to find a church-sanctioned version of history. Don't come looking for a lengthy discussion of polygamy or a detailed explanation of the "Utah War" of 1857, when Mormon militia and federal troops engaged in a tense standoff.

What do you expect? It is simply yet another regurgitated "AP" article, which the Deseret News had nothing to do with, other than copying and pasting to their website.

However, it should be surprising to nobody that leftists have taken over the paper to the point where the Church must really be considering selling the distasteful anti-Conservative rag.

It's hard to get more conservative than the Deseret News in this country. You might try Rush Limbaugh's online journal.

Hadn't heard that the church (via DMC) was considering selling the Deseret News. Au contraire, it looks to me like it is pushing the News right in the direction the paper is going. I'm assuming for monetary reasons - to increase it competitiveness in SL Valley and Utah.

If you want a more conservative paper, try smaller towns - Utah Valley's Daily Herald for instance. It's even called online harktheherald.com. How's that for the conservative voice of angels?

And did you know that radio stations with church businesses as major stakeholders play not only rock, but also rap and hip-hop?
